NO. 2012A BROWN PLEXIGLAS PENDANT BY CLAUS BOLBY CEBO 1975.

Professional seller: Danish Vintage Design

278 EUR / 340 USD

Description

NO. 2012A, brown Plexiglas pendant light designed by Claus Bolby in 1975 and produced by CEBO Industri - sculptural Danish Modern Plexiglas ceiling light in good vintage condition.

A circular pendant light made of 18 Plexiglas pieces fused together to form the round shade, stabilized by a Plexiglas top and bottom plate. The round shaped is comprised of two types of Plexiglas pieces - 9 light brown hollow rectangular pieces filled with air bubbles inside the Plexiglas, and 9 dark brown, flat rectangular pieces with slightly texture on the surface. The top and bottom plate is a circular translucent Plexiglas plate with textured surface on one side to give optimal scattering of the light.

The two-toned brown shade creates a soft diffused illumination with a slightly brownish ambiance, while the translucent top and bottom plate ensures a brighter ambiance upward and downwards. The aluminum cylindrical top conceals the bulb mount and is secured to the Plexiglas shade.

Claus Bolby and CEBO Industri used a specially developed technique with the Plexiglas to create their unique finish and all products were hand-made. Therefore, you will usually experience a quit tight fit, as you screw the cylindrical top onto the Plexiglas shade when you have to change the bulb.

This beautiful light, named NO. 2012A, has multiple applications, but most obvious would be accenting a Mid-century modern dining or sitting area, or maybe creating coziness in a Scandinavian Modern kitchen.
