RING CHANDELIER OPAL AND BRASS BY BENT KARLBY FOR LYFA 1940S

Professional seller: Danish Vintage Design

646 EUR / 790 USD

Description

RING CHANDELIER - double opal glass and brass light by Bent Karlby for LYFA in the 1940s - very rare and extremely attractive early Karlby chandelier!

A stylish early 1940s chandelier with resemblance to Vilhelm Lauritzen's Christiansborg (Ring) Chandelier from 1939 and Poul Henningsen's Butterfly Chandelier from 1931, yet with clear Karlby lines.
Three blown double-layered opal glass shades with a heart-like shape, complimented and connected by a beautiful wavy brass frame. The chandelier is suspended by three white fabric cords ending in a curvy brass canopy towards the ceiling.
Bent Karlby designed a number of chandeliers for LYFA in the late 1930s and up through the 1940 - many with softly curved opal glass shades and decorative brass frames - this chandelier is a very typical design for this era.

Absolutely a stunning and very stylish vintage piece in good vintage condition - fit for many purposes - being a gorgeous chandelier in a hallway or an impressive light in the living room.
