TOPAN BLUE PENDANT BY VERNER PANTON LOUIS POULSEN 1967

Professional seller: Danish Vintage Design

229 EUR / 280 USD

Description

TOPAN, blue pendant by Verner Panton in 1967, produced by Louis Poulsen - beautiful blue ball shaped hanging lamp - vintage edition.

A charming blue metal pendant light, shaped like a ball with its bottom cut off. This, combined with its white inner coating, ensures that all light is guided downwards through the bottom, giving clear flow of light right underneath itself without giving glare.
Sometimes the simplest things prove the most enduring and unforgettable. The TOPAN pendant is a brilliant example of this. It was the first mass-produced lamp by Verner Panton (with Louis Poulsen), later to be followed by the Flowerpot. The simplicity and coolness of the TOPAN, has proved to be a durable and timeless input.

TOPAN was originally developed for hotels, restaurants and the hospitality industry in general. Designed as a part of total design of the Astoria hotel, in Trondheim, Norway. Since then Danes brought this beautiful light into their homes, and a classic was born. TOPAN (as well as the Flowerpot) are still produced to this day - although they are now made by &Tradition and not Louis Poulsen, and in my humble opinion they are not even near the quality of the original enameled ones.
This blue TOPAN I have for sale is the old version, and it is in good vintage condition with few signs of usage and age. Please see the photos!
