Børge Westergaard Mogensen (1914-1972) graduated as a carpenter in 1934 and further educated himself as furniture architect at the Arts and Crafts School and at the Art Academy's Furniture School where Kaare Klint taught. Børge Mogensen was strongly committed to creating solid, timeless design at reasonable prices. At an age of 28, he was appointed chief designer of FDB's furniture program. His work for FDB became important for the Danish furniture culture, as FDB with Børge Mogensen in a leading role presented good and functional furniture at reasonable prices. Among his most famous furniture is the Spanish Chair, the People's Chair and the C18 Shaker Table.
