Kai Kristiansen (1929) graduated as a carpenter in 1949 and completed his studies at the Academy of Arts in 1950, where he was taught by Kaare Klint. Kai Kristiansen is especially known for his furniture designs in teak and rosewood such as dining chairs, bookcase systems and desks. Kai Kristiansen had his own drawing room since 1955, where he worked with several acknowledged furniture manufacturers such as Fritz Hansen, Fornem Møbelkunst and Magnus Olesen. Despite good business partners, the productions of some of Kai Kristiansen's designs stopped, due to the fact that they were too difficult to produce. Nevertheless, Kai Kristiansen is recognized as one of the most talented Scandinavians in the 20th century.
