Poul Henningsen Table Lamps

Poul Henningsen Table Lamps

Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) differs from most designers of the time, as he was not educated at the Academy of Fine Arts. He had a craftsmen background from Copenhagen Technical School and the Technical University in Copenhagen. As a designer, Poul Henningsen is widely known for his non-dazzling lamps - PH lamps. The design of the PH lamps was based on light experiments with the lamp-firm Louis Poulsen. The PH lamp became a pioneer in lighting design, which led to a gold medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1925. In addition to distinguishing himself at the design scene, Poul Henningsen also featured himself as a prominent debater in the 1930s. As editor and publisher of the journal Kritisk Revy, Poul Henningsen became one of the main characters in cultural radicalism.
