Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) was one of the leading architects in Danish functionalism. He graduated as a building architect in 1921 and founded his architectural firm in his own name the year after, which still exists today. Vilhelm Lauritzen is known for his architecture and drew several famous buildings such as Nørrebro Theater, Vega, Daells Department Store, Hotel Sankt Petri, the Radio House and the first airport in Kastrup. However, Vilhelm Lauritzen ended up expanding his repertoire when he was asked to design a number of furniture to the Radio House in 1934. This included the Radio House sofa, the VL38 series and the Radio House pendant.
