Jørgen Bækmark

Jørgen Bækmark (1929-) is the only living furniture designer from the drawing room of FDB, where he was chief of the art from 1958 to 1968, thus the longest-standing director at FDB. Jørgen Bækmark graduated as a carpenter in Ebeltoft. After a couple of years of carpentry, he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, from which he graduated in 1955. The work of Jørgen Bækmark is characterized by his vision of making good designs and quality products available for ordinary people. This vision has resulted in many furniture classics, including the chairs J80, J81 and J104.
