Piet Hein (1905-1996) differs from his colleagues in the design profession. Piet Hein was both a scientist, author and artist. Considering his family background, his versatile talents and career are not surprising. The family of Piet Hein is well-educated and friends with other creative persons such as Karen Blixen and scientist Niels Bohr. Piet Hein's own background is characterized by his many-faceted interests, which led him to Stockholm at the Royal Swedish Art School and further to theoretical physics and philosophy at the University of Copenhagen. Despite the fact that Piet Hein never completed any of the educations, he created many fantastic pieces. Piet Hein is among other things the author of the subtle poems Gruk and designer and mathematic author of the Superellipse series.
