Poul M. Volther

Carpenter and furniture designer Poul M. Volther (1923-2001) is the designer of several well-known furniture designs for both FDB and furniture manufacturer Erik Jørgensen. Internationally, his greatest success is the Corona Chair from 1946, which is a fusion of a sculptural and human-embracing form. In Scandinavia, the J46 chair is a fixed part of many homes. It is a testimony of Poul M. Volther's popular design, based on a philosophy that ordinary people should be able to afford simple, modern, functionalistic furniture in high quality.
