TABLE LAMP WITH STONEWARE BASE BY JOSEF SIMON FOR SØHOLM

Professional seller: Hagblom

180 EUR / 220 USD

Description

This is a very decorative stoneware table lamp designed Josef Simon for world famous Danish ceramics producer Søholm from the island of Bornholm. Very decorative pattern with a green/brown glaze. It has a brand new shade in black cotton that can easily be changed to your own shade of choice. The lamp socket is new and rewired for safety. The stoneware is in perfect condition. No chips or damage at all. Søholm Stentøj was founded in 1835 at Rønne, the principal town of Bornholm, a Danish island off the south coast of Sweden, and the name should not be confused with the town in Frederiksborg some twenty miles north of Copenhagen. The Wolffsen family ran the pottery from 1878 into the first decade of the twentieth century and pieces from that period are often marked with the names H Wolffsen or Chr. L Wolffsen. From around 1910 to 1930 management was in the hands of Carl Møller. The use of earthenware was introduced after 1930 as an alternative to stoneware.
